Manchester United: Christian Eriksen responds to Jurgen Klopp's interview after dramatic win over Liverpool
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen admits he “laughed” at Jurgen Klopp’s viral post-match interview following Sunday’s FA Cup thriller.
A clip showing the Liverpool manager abruptly ending an interview after United’s 4-3 win at Old Trafford went viral on Sunday night.
Klopp appeared to have been angered about the line of questioning from Danish reporter Niels Christian Frederikse, who had asked why his team had dropped their intensity levels during extra-time.
The Reds boss paused after the question, inhaled and said: “That’s a bit of a dumb question, I have to say, if you see us often. If you never see us then you can ask ‘how can they have more resources?’.
“I’m really disappointed by that question, but you thought the opposite so that’s good.”
Frederikse continued with “so, too many games” before Klopp interrupted and replied: “Oh, you don’t think that? Ah, come on, you’re obviously not in good shape and I have no nerves for you.”
Frederikse has since denied suggestions Klopp was referencing his weight and played down the incident before Danish international Eriksen was asked about the clip.
“I laughed a little at that,” he told Tipsbladet.
“I happened to meet Per Frimann, who is his colleague on the plane on the way home. I know that Rasmus Højlund sat the whole flight home with Niels Christian so I think they had some good conversations.
“It’s journalism, and what they ask is not something you have anything to do with, but Klopp was obviously tired and annoyed after they had lost.”
