Mariah Carey Brings Her Signature Whistle Notes to Ariana Grande's 'Yes, And?' Remix: Listen!

The R&B diva joined the pop star on the remix of her No. 1 hit single, which dropped on Friday

Ariana Grande has teamed up with one of her idols for the “Yes, And?” remix.

On Friday, the pop superstar, 30, released the official remix of the lead single from her forthcoming album Eternal Sunshine, featuring none other than Mariah Carey.

Grande may sing on the track, “Be your own f---in' best friend,” but the two pop powerhouses embolden the self-empowerment message of the song by lifting each other up throughout the new version.

Carey, 54, makes her presence on the updated “Yes, And?” known immediately, as her signature whistle note is embedded in the opening house-inspired beat. She then assists the Sweetener artist early on in the remix by joining her on the pre-chorus and chorus.

Mimi also gets her own solo moment to shine as she brazenly sings the second verse: “Now, I'm so done with sharing / This hypocrisy with you / Baby, you have been rejected / Go back, no more pretending, bye.”

The “Obsessed” singer frequently echoes Grande’s cunning lines about remaining confident in the face of criticism by both repeating the lyrics and adding a high-pitched note or croon, elevating the upbeat song even more so.

After the track dropped on Friday, the “Thank U, Next” singer celebrated its release by sharing a fun video on Instagram featuring her and her collaborator.

The singer-songwriter, who wears a polka-dot dress in the clip, released an edited video that makes it look like she passes the screen along to a glamorous-looking Carey, as they both hum the intro of the song. They embrace in a hug at the end of the fun visual, and in the caption, the pop star shared how much she admires the R&B legend.

“i love you so much @mariahcarey 🥹 yes, and? remix out now 🫧♡🦋 🫧♡🦋🫧♡🦋,” she wrote.

Carey took to the comments to express how much she enjoyed working with the hitmaker. She replied, “Love you Ari!!! ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for having me on this record 🤩😍🔥.”

“Yes, And? (Remix)” comes just several days after the pop divas announced the track on social media on Wednesday. At the time, Grande shared a photo of the two Grammy winners posing side-by-side in all-black outfits and shared in the comments how thrilled she was to collaborate with one of her favorite artists.

The pair previously teamed up in 2020 for a remix of Carey's 2010 song "Oh Santa" with Jennifer Hudson on the soundtrack of Apple TV+'s Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special.

The three musicians performed the remix in the 2020 special and recently reunited in December 2023 when they delivered its live debut at one of the Queen of Christmas’ Merry Christmas One and All! concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The remix with the Songbird Supreme arrives a little over a month after the original dropped and debuted at No. 1 atop the Billboard Hot 100.

“Yes, And?” is the one and only single off Grande’s forthcoming seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, which follows 2020's positions. The highly anticipated project is set to arrive on March 8 via Republic Records.
