Marina South Pier station to open this weekend

TheMarina South Pier MRT station (pictured) will start operations on 23 November.

Running on the North-South Line, it will serve Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, Marina South Pier, and future developments in the Marina Bay Downtown area.

The MRT station is a one kilometer-long extension of the existing North-South Line that runs southwards after the Marina Bay station.

On weekday mornings, train service to the Marina South Pier station will run at around eight 8 to 12-minute intervals during peak hours. On weekends and public holidays, it will be at 15-minute intervals.

Train frequencies will be improved when there are cruise ships calling at the cruise centre, and during the annual Kusu Pilgrimage season which is generally between September and November.

Construction of the station started in 2009 and was completed this year. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT have been carrying out train testing over the last three months.
