Maritzburg v Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to open up a commanding lead at the top of the PSL standings when they travel to the Harry Gwala Stadium to face Maritzburg United on Friday. Amakhosi currently hold a four-point advantage over second-placed Orlando Pirates, although the Buccaneers are only in action 24 hours later, giving Chiefs the chance to go seven points clear at the summit. The Glamour Boys will, however, need to overcome their Telkom Knockout heartache after they were dumped out of the tournament at the hands of Bidvest Wits on Saturday. The Team of Choice, meanwhile, remain in touching distance with the PSL front runners, with their most recent league result - a 1-0 win over Chippa United - leaving Ernst Middendorp's men just five points behind in fifth. United will also be buoyed by their progression in the Ziwa Mo, with the side having seen off MTN8 champions Moroka Swallows on penalties to book their place in the quarter-finals. In team news, Chiefs will be without Jimmy Jambo for the remainder of the season after he suffered a serious leg injury in the cup defeat, while Siphiwe Tshabalalala is facing a late fitness test after also picking up a knock against Wits. Also missing are long-term absentees Siboniso Gaxa, Morgan Gould, Jimmy Tau and Sakhile Hlongwa, but a big boost to the team is the return of goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, who missed the TKO outing due to personal reasons. Maritzburg, meanwhile, have no new injury concerns , but Mthokozisi Yende misses out through suspension.
