Mark Consuelos is proud of the family he's built with wife Kelly Ripa.

While attending the red carpet premiere for Max's The Girls on the Bus in New York City on Tuesday, the Riverdale alum, 52, chatted with PEOPLE about his Christmas vacation with his family of five, where his kids brought their significant others. Consuelos shares sons Joaquin and Michael, as well as daughter Lola, with Ripa, 53.

"It was lovely...it was really nice people to spend time with. They did a great job," Consuelos says of his kids' choice of partners. "We love them all. I just was really proud of the fact that our kids wanted to hang out with us."

"That's kind of the goal after you raise them and we're still raising them, but they're adults, so we're not really, we're kind of done. They're on their own for the most part. But I was just really thrilled and honored that my kids would want to spend time with me and my wife."

"And not be embarrassed by bringing their boyfriend or a girlfriend around," the proud dad adds.

In January, Consuelos talked about the vacation during an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. "No, it was great, it was great. I never thought it would happen," Consuelos said at the time.

"I have to say, our kids have such good taste," Ripa noted. "They have good pickers," Consuelos added.

"Like their mother!" Ripa said. "The boys brought their girlfriends, Lola brought her boyfriend." Consuelos then went on to say that they all stayed in separate rooms.

"We didn't know how it was going to go, you know what I mean? You just don’t know. Everybody seems nice when you have dinner with them, but how’s it going to go?" Ripa asked.

Luckily, the proud mom noted that everyone got along great. "It was so nice," she said.
