Markus Ebner Unveils Sepp Magazine Coinciding With European Cup

SERIOUS ABOUT FOOTBALL: Markus Ebner’s Sepp magazine is on newsstands and on its webshop again to coincide with the football European Cup this summer.

Started before Ebner’s Berlin-based title Achtung in 2002 for the World Cup in Japan and South Korea, Sepp runs every two years marking the main football tournaments. “The new issue is very special to me as the Euro Cup is held in Germany,” admitted Ebner, citing multiple photographic portfolios by Martina Borsche or shot in Berlin by Kuba Dabrowksi, and in Munich, showcasing the streets and style of Germany in 2024. “We also have German national team player Robin Koch and Brazilian international Dante [the oldest pro in European football playing for OGC Nice in France)] on the cover. Then a selection of the best dressed players off the pitch and so on,” he touted.

The magazine was named after Sepp Herberger, the player who pulled off Germany’s first World Cup victory in the Miracle of Bern in 1954.

Shining a spotlight on the Sepp Fussball Fashion Summer 2024 launch, during Milan Men’s Fashion Week, Ebner organized a football match, Sepp versus the team of Brunello Cucinelli, a fan of the sport and a player himself, renting a stadium in the city. Ebner’s team included a number of Germans in Milan, from Daniel del Core and Alexander Werz to Damir Doma, Versace’s Max Doerr, who also designed the jerseys with Puma, as well as Johannes Hübl and Sébastien Jondeau. Cucinelli coached his team to the winning score of 6 to 3, but Ebner said it was “all about fun and not competition.”

Ebner is certainly serious about the sport, as back in 2018 he curated an exhibition at Pitti Uomo called “Fanatic Feelings” about fashion and football.
