Martin Roberts has said he hopes his recent turn on Strictly The Real Full Monty shows Strictly bosses that he can dance.

The Homes Under The Hammer star has made no secret of the fact that he’s desperate to do the BBC ballroom show.

And he hopes stripping on The Real Full Monty helps to convince Strictly bosses that he's worth signing up.

He told the Express: "I mean, hopefully it shows I can dance. Whether or not it’s a nail in the coffin for my chances on Strictly I don’t know.

"It might be the opposite.

"Maybe they’ll go 'Actually, you know what he’s a good sport, he gives it his all and actually he can dance'."

Roberts has previously encouraged his fans to get a campaign going to get him on Strictly.

He has said that, at 58, he worries he is running out of chances to do the programme.

Last summer he posted a message on Twitter saying he was “cheesed off” and claiming that he’d heard that Strictly wouldn’t have a phone call with him to see if he might be might be suitable.

He told fans: “This is probably totally wrong and I shouldn’t be asking, but can we get a groundswell - can anyone be bothered to actually try and do something?

“Let’s do a hashtag, and see if we can just at least get me somewhere down the line to have a chance to do this, because loads of people seem to think they’d quite enjoy me on it, and I would certainly love to give it a chance.”
