Maryland creators break down hidden meaning of costumes in ITV show
ITV series Maryland's cast and crew have been talking about the hidden meaning in the characters' costumes.
Starring Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) and Eve Best (House of the Dragon) as sisters Becca and Rosaline, the three-part drama sees them discovering that their mother Mary, who died on a mysterious trip to the Isle of Man, was leading a double life.
While talking to press including Digital Spy, Jones, co-creator Anne-Marie O'Connor and director Sue Tully broke down the hidden meanings beneath the two central characters' wardrobes.

"The description of Rosaline for me was that she armours herself in her clothing," said O'Connor. "So it's deliberate.
"At the beginning, this is definitely what you did with costume, wasn't it? She's so put together. And then as we go on, we see it kind of just..."
Tully added: "They inhabit two completely different worlds. Rosaline is in London, Becca's still in Manchester, they have very different levels of income.
"Ros has got no kids. And as Anne-Marie said, Rosaline has been seeking that kind of material and a career path and wrapped herself in these very obvious displays of her success in a career.
"Whereas, Becca is a bit more practical. Obviously works in different income. We wanted to just show that, so there'll be an immediate visual difference between the two."
Jones, who recently teased the second season of cop drama Vigil, added that Becca is "lost".
"We didn't give her style because she's not got one," Jones explained. "She's so bothered about the Tupperware and whether the kids get fed. That's what she's bothered about.
"She's kind of lost herself, which again, comes out later on."
Maryland airs Mondays on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
