“The Masked Singer” introduces new wildcard and unmasks ousted “Today” host Billy Bush

Plus, the panelists had to sing the "Gilligan's Island" song for TV Theme Night.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Masked Singer, season 11, episode 4, "TV Theme Night."

The Masked Singer stayed true to its, ahem, theme on Wednesday's TV Theme Night episode — from the songs, to the guest stars, and ultimately to the person unmasked.

All four panelists — Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, Rita Ora, and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg — were tasked with dressing up as Gilligan's Island characters and then performing the beloved sitcom's theme, led by a surprisingly good vocal from Jeong (McCarthy-Wahlberg told Entertainment Weekly before the new season aired that she was "a little scared" to sing alongside Thicke, Ora, and even "Ken, who can actually sing, he just fakes not being able to, but he can really sing" — and she wasn't wrong!)

From there, it was the contestants' turns to sing iconic theme songs from TV shows. And, for the first time this season, we got the same group in back-to-back weeks, which meant Group C's Clock, Poodle Moth, and Lizard were tasked with singing the themes to Good Times, The Hills, and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? respectively.

It was a week of firsts, apparently, because also for the first time this season, a wildcard contestant was introduced to a group. Sir Lion joined the Masked Singer circus and performed the theme to Married…With Children.

The episode also featured the most guest stars yet, and fittingly, they were all TV stars. The Love Boat star Jill Whelan was first to deliver a clue, then The Hills' Speidi (that's Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag for the uninitiated), and finally, a Great Dane named Scooby all came on stage to deliver cryptic clues.

As always, someone had to be eliminated, and a smackdown between the bottom two contestants was initiated to trigger an elimination. Scooby is great and all, but Lizard was not done any favors having to sing that song, and found himself in the smackdown for a second time. He was pit up against group newcomer Sir Lion, and for the second week in a row came out on top.

The panelists really honed in on clues about a famous family and TV host with their final guesses for Sir Lion of Anderson Cooper, Ryan Seacrest, Andy Cohen, and Seth Meyers. But, the panelists' cold streak continues because no one got it right: Sir Lion was unmasked to reveal TV host and entertainment reporter Billy Bush.

Bush, who, yes, hails from that political family, in 2016 lost his job as a Today host when an audio recording surfaced of a lewd 2015 conversation between him and then-presidential candidate Donald Trump on the Access Hollywood bus. He later apologized, and said in a May 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, that he didn't "have the strength of character" to have handled the conversation — which infamously featured Trump bragging about kissing women without their permission and grabbing “them by the p---y” — differently. “I wish I had changed the topic,” he said. “I wish I had said: ‘Does anyone want water?’ or ‘It looks like it’s gonna rain.’ He liked TV and competition. I could’ve said, ‘Can you believe the ratings on whatever?’ I didn’t have the strength of character to do it.” Since 2019, Bush has hosted entertainment news show Extra.
