The Masked Singer UK presenter Joel Dommett has a "brutal" reality TV show heading to screens – as the revived edition of Survivor comes to BBC One.

Dommett was recently confirmed to host an all-new edition of the series for the channel, following on from two previous series which aired on ITV in 2001 and 2002.

Speaking on The One Show, he told hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas: "So it's two tribes in a beautiful place, brutal conditions, and they compete against each other for like, immunity and rewards.

"And there's lots of backstabbing, there's lots of great friendships; huge challenges.

"It's great," Dommett grinned, before suggesting there could be some Hollywood-style stakes involved.

"It's kind of like a beautiful mix of a lot of my favourite TV shows, like The Traitors, I'm a Celebrity [Get Me Out of Here!], mixed with Cast Away, and I think I'm Wilson!"

"Not only is Survivor one of the biggest shows on TV, we are thrilled to have one of the biggest talents on TV host it," said Natalka Znak, who's CEO of Remarkable Entertainment, Initial and Znak TV, when Dommett was confirmed as host.

"Joel's infectious wit and energy are second to none – I can't wait to watch as he leads our Survivor contestants through their epic battle!"

Dommett most recently hosted the fourth series finale of The Masked Singer UK, where Busted's Charlie Simpson was named champion after a thrilling final last weekend, with Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson and Natalie Appleton of pop band All Saints in second and third place respectively.

Dressed in his wild-west Rhino costume, Simpson told judges Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Lee Mack after being unmasked: "I was terrified the entire time, because the thing I was most scared of was remembering lyrics.

"I often forget lyrics to my own songs on stage."

The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer air on ITV1 and ITVX.
