The Masked Singer US is returning to our screens even earlier than expected.

Last month, it was announced that season 10 of the reality competition would debut on September 27, but network Fox has just moved the premiere date to September 10.

The new season will air immediately following the NFL Double Header and then take a two-week break before returning on the 27th.

Fox has promised the premiere episode will feature "one of the biggest, can't-miss unmaskings in the show’s history", as 16 celebrity singers compete to be crowned the winner. Costumes already revealed for the season are "Donut," "Anteater," "Hawk," "Hibiscus,” and "S'More".

Judges Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Robin Thicke are all returning for the 10th season alongside host Nick Cannon.

The season will also feature the return of past celebrity contestants — including Michelle Williams, Rumer Willis, Joey Fatone, Bow Wow, Victor Oladipo and Barry Zito — who will take part in unmasked duet performances.

There's also a host of all-new themed episodes, including 'Trolls Night' to celebrate the release of Trolls Band Together, a Harry Potter-themed night for Halloween, a tribute to Elton John and 'NFL Night'.

The Masked Singer US season nine wrapped up in May and saw Macaw and Medusa in the final. Former American Idol finalist David Archuleta was inside the bird costume, and Medusa, who won the season, was unmasked as singer Bishop Briggs.

Briggs, who had welcomed her first child just six months prior, said after her win: "When I was on the show, I was six months postpartum. My most recent memory was performing at Coachella while pregnant, which was such an undertaking.

"I feel like compared to that, this was okay. That made a huge difference that I had something so intense to compare it to, being six months pregnant and performing in the desert heat. And so, I think that helped my endurance a little bit."
