Maya Jama says Molly-Mae and Tommy prove Love Island "works"
Love Island host Maya Jama has said that Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury's engagement proves that the show works.
While many of the couples from recent seasons have broken up after their time in the villa ended Molly-Mae and Tommy have gone from strength to strength, welcoming daughter Bambi earlier this year and now getting engaged.
Following the announcement, Maya congratulated the couple on yesterday's (July 23) Aftersun.
"Before we get into the chat, I've got some breaking news, everyone!" she said, announcing the news to the audience.

"If you haven’t been on Instagram, Molly-Mae and Tommy have just got engaged! Congratulations!"
"See, Love Island works," she added. "They've got a baby, engagement, just a happy ever after!"
Chiming in, co-star Sam Thompson joked by adding "Money", to which Maya replied: "Loads of money! All of that stuff!"
Molly-Mae and Tommy originally met on the 2019 season of the popular dating show, eventually placing second. The couple announced their engagement just hours before Aftersun aired, sharing an adorable joint post on Instagram.

In the black-and-white video, Molly can be seen walking towards Tommy and Bambi by a picturesque cliffside. Tommy then hands Bambi over to Molly before getting down on one knee.
"Forever. 23/07/23," they captioned the post, while Maya replied to the post, writing: "WE LOVE TO SEE IT! Congratulations you cuteys."
Molly-Mae and Tommy aren't the first Love Island success story either, with Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland, Dom Lever and Jess Shears, and Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt all going on to get married and have children after the show.
