In The Know by Yahoo is hosting its third annual Latinx and Hispanic Changemakers event in New York on Sept. 26 at Victor’s Cafe. Moderated by actress and drag performer Chiquitita, a diverse panel will discuss how they have explored and embraced their multicultural heritage. Other panelists are comedian Gadiel Del Orbe, model and dancer Kayla Maria G and artist Bianca Romero.

Chiquitita (Moderator)

Actress, drag performer

Chiquitita is an actress and drag performer. Since being crowned Miss Bushwig in 2018, she has utilized the stage as a platform to amplify queer voices. Through shows and projects to uplift her community, Chiquitita continues to push boundaries of what being a drag performer means. Chiquitita and her work have been profiled in Allure, W Magazine and Vogue, and most recently you can catch her in Glamorous on Netflix.

Gadiel Del Orbe

Comedian

Gadiel Del Orbe spent some of his formative years as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he served for over 4 years while also participating in comedy shows aboard ship. Afterward, he began his journey as a stand-up comic in San Diego until he was offered a job on Buzzfeed’s Pero Like channel. Catch him in the films The End of Us and Peak Season.

Kayla Maria G

Dancer, model

Kayla Maria G is an Afro-Latina dancer and model whose goal is to normalize disabilities. She’s been featured in international campaigns with Tommy Hilfiger and Ugg, and choreographed for Disney+. In 2023, Kayla was selected for the Nike Makers Program, focused on increasing representation for Gen Z women of color. Recently Kayla performed at Eurovision 2023. She founded Body Empowerment Heals, an organization that focuses on self-exploration through dance.

Bianca Romero

Fine artist

Bianca Romero is a New York City-based mixed-media artist, best known for her art made of hand-cut collaged street posters. Her art is inspired by her mixed background (Spanish and Korean) along with human emotion, identity and women’s empowerment. Recently, Romero collaborated with Maker’s Mark, completing 11 murals and unique bottles. Her mural collaboration with the New York Mayor’s Office featured her “Stop Asian Hate” initiative.
