From Town & Country

The time has finally come. Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle split from Prince William and Kate Middleton's @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account last April and launched their own handle, @SussexRoyal, Harry and Meghan have been quickly gaining followers—so many, in fact, that they've surpassed Will and Kate.

Both accounts now boast a whopping 11 million followers, but the Sussexes are just a smidge ahead with 11,038,255 to Will and Kate's 11,030,199 (all numbers are as of the time of writing).

If Will and Kate's following had plateaued last year, Harry and Meghan would have come out on top a while ago, but both accounts have been seeing significant growth in recent months.

And both handles are still well above the rest of the royal family's social accounts. The main royal Instagram, which represents Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip as well as several other royals (Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Sophie, and more), only has 7.4 million followers. Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall's account, @clarencehouse, comes in just under one million at 997,000; Princess Eugenie narrowly tops them at 1.08 million.

One place where Will and Kate will always beat Harry and Meghan, though? Twitter. The Sussexes never created their own Twitter account after splitting off from Will and Kate's, instead opting to be represented by the royals' main handle, @RoyalFamily.

As for how Meghan and Harry's social presence will grow (or not) once they transition to their new lives, royal watchers will have to wait and see.
