Meghan Trainor Recalls ‘Horrific’ Miscarriage Scare She Had During A TV Interview

Meghan Trainor is opening up about a “nightmare” experience that occurred while she was newly pregnant with her second son, Barry.

Appearing on Mythical Kitchen’s “Last Meals” last week, Trainor told food journalist Josh Scherer that she’d been convinced she’d miscarried while sitting for an interview with Ryan Seacrest in late 2022.

The Grammy winner said she and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, had been trying to conceive a child for weeks leading up to her Seacrest chat. When she began bleeding shortly before an Oct. 2022 appearance on the “Tonight Show” about a month earlier, however, she believed it was her period.

On the morning of Trainor’s interview with Seacrest, a pregnancy test came back positive.

“That morning, I was like stoked, beaming with joy. I videotaped it,” she recalled. “I did interviews, and they’re like, ‘How are you?’ And I said, ‘I’m thriving.’ I was so happy.”

Just moments before she went live on the air with Seacrest, she noticed she was “gushing blood” to the extent where she “ruined a chair.”

“I go, ‘Oh, no,’ and they’re like, ‘OK, Ryan Seacrest is on,” she said. “Go!’”

Trainor said she managed to keep it together while chatting with Seacrest, but the moment she turned off her computer, she told her team, “I think I’m miscarrying right now.”

After excusing herself to go to the bathroom, she added: “I was like, ‘Alright, I had a baby this morning, and now they’re gone.’”

In the wake of the incident, Trainor continued to take pregnancy tests, all of which continued to come back positive. After a blood test and a follow-up visit with her doctor, she learned she was, in fact, 10 weeks pregnant ― meaning that her baby was conceived shortly before her “Tonight Show” appearance.

“It was horrific, and then amazing,” she quipped.

Trainor and Sabara welcomed their second son, Barry, in July of last year. The couple also share a 3-year-old son, Riley.

These days, Trainor ― who is scheduled to kick off her Timeless Tour in Cincinnati, Ohio, this September ― has come to see Barry as a “little miracle.”

“Every time I look at him, I’m like, ‘How are you here?’” she said.
