Meghan Trainor thought she miscarried during a Ryan Seacrest interview: 'It was horrific'

"I did that whole interview like, 'don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry,"' the singer tells "Last Meals" host Josh Scherer.

Meghan Trainor says she had a miscarriage scare during her second pregnancy — and it happened while she was doing an on-camera interview.

In a recent episode of Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, the singer told host Josh Scherer about a frightening moment two years ago while she was doing press for her newest album, Takin' It Back. While recording a series of TV interviews, Trainor — who had just gotten a positive result on a pregnancy test that morning — began "gushing blood" right before her final interview with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. "Like, I ruined a chair!" she explains. "I go, 'Oh, no!' And they're like, 'Okay, Ryan Seacrest is on — go!'"

Trainor says she managed to hold it together — "I did that whole interview like, 'don't cry, don't cry, don't cry'" — and then immediately told her team what was wrong. "I shut the computer and was like, 'Hey team, I think I'm miscarrying right now.'"

Fortunately, she was wrong. Trainor goes on to say that she continued to have positive pregnancy tests, and when she went to see her doctor at what she thought was her sixth week, the OB/GYN had some surprising news. "She went in and goes, 'Woah! That's a 10 week old baby!'" Trainor recalls. "I was like, 'I've been pregnant this whole time???' So, I was pregnant ever since the Fallon performance." (The singer performed "Made You Look" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October of 2022.) The experience, says Trainor, was "horrific and then amazing."

Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabara, welcomed their second child, Barry, on July 1, 2023. Watch the singer's full Last Meals interview above.
