Met officer charged over alleged theft from dead man

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged after allegedly stealing from a man who collapsed and died.

PC Craig Carter is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with misconduct in public office.

No details were provided on where the offence took place but the Met's Northern Area Command he is attached to encompasses the Enfield and Haringey boroughs.

PC Carter was suspended following the charge, a Met Police spokesperson said.
