Michelle Keegan has shared that the response to her Netflix drama Fool Me Once has been "overwhelming", as she picked up a special award.

On Wednesday (January 31) the actress was honoured with the Variety Club Silver Heart Award for outstanding achievement in global television and streaming, with the award celebrating her work including her role in the Netflix hit.

In her acceptance speech, she said: "I’m so grateful to receive [this award]. The response to Fool Me Once has been both overwhelming and incredible, I feel privileged to be in a job that I love and to work with extremely talented people.

"I’m honoured to be celebrating this special moment at the Chairman’s Reception tonight, marking 75 years of Variety, the Children’s Charity’s incredible legacy."

Keegan plays ex-soldier Maya Stern in Harlan Coben’s latest Netflix adaptation, who is left seeking answers when her murdered husband appears on her nanny cam.

Fool Me Once, which dropped on the platform on New Year’s Day and also stars Joanna Lumley, Richard Armitage and Adeel Akhtar, has been a huge success, reaching the Top 10 in 91 countries worldwide.

Two more Harlan Coben series have been commissioned by Netflix on the back of this success, with thrillers Missing You and Run Away announced last month.

Keegan is having a busy time at the moment, as she has recently unveiled her latest fashion range with retailer Very, with the collection available to buy on the website now.

Plus, the BBC has renewed drama Ten Pound Poms for a second series, with Keegan set to return to her role as Kate alongside co-stars Faye Marsay and Warren Brown.

Danny Brocklehurst, the show’s creator and writer, said in a statement: "The positive viewer response to Ten Pound Poms was a true delight. We tapped into a little-known part of our recent history and told stories which reflected the realities of the real Poms that made the trip.

"I couldn’t be more thrilled to be teaming again with the BBC, Stan and Eleven to continue our characters’ adventure down under."

Fool Me Once is available to stream on Netflix now.
