Former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews was hospitalised for two days while on holiday in Spain with his wife and three children.

The reality star's wife Vogue Williams revealed the news during an episode of her podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, explaining that Spencer had accidentally overdosed on cold sore medication after the family were taken ill by a sickness bug.

"Spenny was hospitalised for two days because he is a little bitch and he can't handle it," Vogue explained to co-host Joanne McNally.

She continued: "Well, I will tell you what, he overdosed on cold sore tablets. I am not joking, I am not joking, I'm not. He overdosed on cold sore tablets and his liver function, because he did it for a full week, taking ten of these things and he said, 'Oh, they're fine'.

"And he did it to me when I thought I felt a tingle and he said, 'Darling take six of these and you'll be fine', and you're only meant to take two."

Vogue then went on to clarify that it was more likely the bug – which she and her auntie had also suffered from – followed by the medication which landed the reality star in hospital, with Spencer being particularly unwell with the illness.

Spencer recently opened up on his friendship with former co-star Jamie Laing, after missing Jamie's first wedding to Sophie Habboo due to a miscommunication.

"It's water under the bridge. Jamie's a bit scatty, he's badly-organised, and at the end of the day, I believe it, so he's off the hook," he told OK! magazine.

Made in Chelsea airs on E4.
