miHoYo brings Genshin Impact to the Alps for Dragonspine anniversary

It's barely been a few days since the deets on Genshin Impact's 2.4 update dropped, but there's already a new real-world event from developer and publisher miHoYo.

To commemorate a year since the launch of Genshin Impact's Dragonspine area, miHoYo announced on Wednesday (29 Dec) a series of events to connect players with the Alps mountain range, one of the real-world inspirations for Dragonspine.

Lucky visitors to the Val Thorens ski resort in France may find characters like Amber, Venti and Klee hanging around in the snow, or spot them from above in Genshin Impact-themed cable cars.

For those of us not fortunate enough to be touring Europe and enjoying the snow at the continent's highest ski resort, miHoYo has the “Enchanting Journey of Snow and Stars” web event for fans and players to join in the celebration.

Players can help light up a special Teleport Waypoint placed in the Alps, which will allow them to claim various rewards and a customized photo card featuring the snowy peak as well as their favorite character (please let there be Raiden Shogun).

Those who write down their wishes in the event will also have a chance to send them on the Tree of Wishes atop the Alps.

Additionally, once the number of participants reaches one million, a special Alps Waypoint Lighting Ceremony will be broadcast to global audiences in mid-January on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

Dragonspine was first added to the game in December 2020, and has remained a fan favorite for its hauntingly beautiful snowscape as well as a musical score that ranks among the best in Genshin Impact.

This real-world collaboration comes a few weeks after the end of the HoYo Fest period, during which themed cafes of miHoYo games, including Genshin Impact, popped up across Southeast Asia.
