‘SNL’ Star Mikey Day Reveals ‘Home Alone’ Spoof With Eric & Donald Trump Jr. That Didn’t Make It To Air
One of Saturday Night Live cast member Mikey Day’s favorite sketches never made it to the broadcast.
Day recalled the SNL moment during a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. He said the sketch in question didn’t even make it to dress rehearsal, but he still loved it.

“It was around Christmastime and we wrote — this was years back when Trump was still president at the time — and it was a Home Alone [spoof], and Eric Trump was left home alone in Trump Tower,” Day said from the Clarkson couch, joined by fellow guests Dionne Warwick and Damon Elliott. “And so Don Jr. had to go back, and, [he said,] ‘I’ve gotta get back to New York, Eric’s home alone,’ and there were investigators coming in in place of the burglars.”
Clarkson asked Day why the sketch got cut. “Well, it didn’t even get picked, so it didn’t even make it to the place where it could be cut, but all of Eric’s traps didn’t work,” Day said. “He was like hosing down the carpet. And we were a little bummed because, obviously, Home Alone’s a classic. But, you know, every week there’s stuff.”
Day pivoted to asking Clarkson to host the show. She quickly dismissed the idea.
“I don’t think I’m funny like that. Like I can be witty at times, like just talking, but I don’t think I’m funny like that. I did do a couple skits one time though when I went to sing there,” she said.
Clarkson performed on SNL in January 2012, marking her third appearance on the show.
