Mindriot Entertainment Sets ‘Father Figure’, A Feature Project Partly Based On The Life Of Notorious FBI Hacker Bryan Seely

EXCLUSIVE: MindRiot Entertainment, the transatlantic indie behind Danielle Deadwyler’s Parallel, and the upcoming OceanGate pic Salvaged has acquired the rights to adapt the life stories of former US soldiers Bryan Seely and Robert Hudock for a feature project.

The project is currently titled Father Figure and will feature two intertwined stories inspired by the former soldiers.

Seely is known internationally as the notorious “ethical hacker.” He first gained notoriety after simultaneously hacking into the FBI and Secret Service to expose a glitch in their system. The hacks should have landed him in prison but after intense interrogation, he was celebrated by government officials and has become a popular cyber security public speaker. Hudock served in the Air Force in Guam and the Philippines. After leaving the army he has also had an extensive career in hi-tech. We understand the story will focus specifically on Seely and Hudock’s experiences as veterans who are also fathers.

“Father Figure is another amazing true story to add to MindRiot’s bursting catalog of heartfelt and fact-based stories,” said Justin MacGregor, Head of European Content at Mindriot. “We’ve always found fact way more compelling than fiction. And after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, we have made it MindRiot’s mission to find and execute non-didactic yet heartfelt, human stories.”

Father Figure joins MindRiot’s busy development slate which also features an adaptation of Tobias Wolff’s National Medal of the Arts winning The Barracks Thief, the Josh Swindell prison drama Four The Yard, and the OceanGate pic Salvaged.

Keasey is repped by Circle of Confusion and David Matlof and Adam Vitable of Hirsch Wallerstein Matlof Fishman + Hayum. MacGregor is the Head of the School of Creative Arts at Trinity College Dublin and a regular contributor to Ireland’s RTE.
