Miranda Derrick claims she and her husband James "BDash" Derrick are receiving threats and are concerned for their safety following the recent release of the Netflix docuseries Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult.

The social media influencer posted a video to Instagram on Monday, June 10, addressing the negative attention she and James have allegedly received after the docuseries, which premiered on May 29, insinuated that the couple was involved in an alleged cult.

“Hey guys, I know I don’t normally make this kind of content, but I just wanted to be transparent and a little vulnerable with you,” Miranda began on-camera in her clip.

“But before this documentary, my husband and I — we felt safe,” she said. “Now that this documentary is out, we feel like our lives have been put in danger.”

In the Netflix series, Miranda’s sister Melanie Wilking tells the story of how Miranda and James met.

According to Melanie, James was a popular Krump dancer whose talents led him to being featured on NBC's World of Dance. With Melanie and Miranda (aka The Wilking Sisters) also being known for dancing, the three began collaborating in April 2019.

However, after the trio started a group chat, eventually James removed Melanie so that only he and Miranda could text and the two began dating.

It was through Miranda’s interaction with James that she was introduced to Robert Shinn’s 7M organization, the subject of the series. In 2022, the Wilking family made an Instagram Live video accusing Shinn of running a cult.

“We have both been followed in our cars. We have received hate mail, death threats. People have been sending us messages to commit suicide. We’ve been stalked,” Miranda claimed on Monday.

She went on to cite specific examples of alleged disturbing behavior.

“I honestly — I don’t understand how my parents and my sister thought that this documentary would help me or would help our relationship in any way. I just don’t understand that,” Miranda continued.

The TikTok star added that she and her family had been getting together privately “for the past couple years” to “mend” their relationship, but now their progress has been disrupted in light of recent events.

“Honestly, I think that my parents, my sister have focused so much on this documentary, that they’ve forgotten about working on any relationship with me and that hurts. That hurts me to say,” Miranda said.

She added that it’s been hard to focus on creating social media content with everything that’s been going on, and apologized to her supporters if things on her accounts seemed “slower” than usual.

Before wrapping her video, she thanked her fans for their “kind messages,” and promised to get back to dancing soon.
