MJ Lastimosa's 'birthday cake' national costume in Miss Universe? Netizens unimpressed

Miss Universe 2014 preliminaries heightened Filipino sense of humor when Mary Jean Lastimosa walked the stage in Doral, Miami on Thursday Manila time.

Some were amused by the way the 27-year-old Pinay carried herself in the preliminary long gown and swimwear competition. Things turned nasty on the Twitterverse when MJ paraded her national costume created by Colombian fashion designer Alfredo Barraza.

Netizens reckoned the gown resembles those worn by Flores de Mayo participants, while others found a touch of their favorite birthday cakes in it.
