Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela Officially Dropped Their X-ALP Collection

Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela's X-ALP collaboration was teased in early 2024, and now – at long last – we have a proper first look.

Jumping on the sneaker hybrid craze, the XT-4 mule reinterprets the protective and functional hiking shoe through the lens of the MM6 design studio. Rendered in two new colorways, described by the brand as “radical” and “neat,” they tone down the technical details to focus on the shoe’s aerodynamic shape.

Per the press release, “graphic silhouettes of pure monochrome black and signature shades of whites and creams contrasted with black details add a sharp, sartorial edge to this staple of SALOMON’s mountaineering heritage." The colorways are dubbed “Vanilla Ice/Black/Almond Milk,” and “Black/Black/Black.” All feature the MM6 numeric signature logo on the shoe’s tongue, naturally.

The shoe first appeared in Margiela's 2024 Resort lookbook, featuring that unique blend of beige, teal, brown, blue and yellow. It was then teased via the Instagram account Hiking Patrol back in 2023, with the black colorway resurfacing online via Salomonology in early 2024.

You can expect both pairs to be available via the Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela websites come June 6. Until then, take a closer look at the new colorways above.
