Mobile Legends: AP.Bren give their picks for heroes they want a championship skin for after historic M5 win
Brody, Arlott, and Fredrinn were among the heroes picked by AP.Bren's players and coaches to receive a championship skin.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M5 World Championship recently concluded with a thrilling seven-game series where the Philippines' AP. Bren emerged victorious over Indonesian rivals ONIC Esports on Sunday (17 December).
On top of the US$300,000 cash prize, MLBB developer MOONTON Games also honours the yearly world champions with a specially customised world championship skin for one hero of their choice.
Along with AP.Bren's chosen World Champion unique skin, which features the team's branding, the exclusive skin will be determined by player voting.
While the choices have not been decided yet, Yahoo Esports SEA were able to ask AP.Bren's players and coaches which hero they will pick for the championship skin:
Brody
Among all the other heroes, Brody seems to AP.Bren’s signature hero. Brody was picked by the Filipino squad eight times throughout M5, winning 7 out these 8 games.
With his high mobility, burst damage, and crowd control immunity, Brody was AP.Bren’s hero of choice as they won the world title by snowballing to crush their opponents in the swiftest manner possible.
Brody was one of the choices of midlaner Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel, EXP laner Vincent "Pandora" Unigo, and roamer Rowgien "Owgwen" Unigo.
Arlott
Arlott was one of Owgwen’s choices, apart from Brody.
Although Brody is almost synonymous with AP.Bren, Arlott was the team’s most-picked hero in the tournament. The hero appeared 12 times in AP. Bren’s drafts, including three times in the Grand Finals match against ONIC. He was also the fifth most-picked hero across all teams in M5.
Fredrinn
The Rogue Appraiser, Fredrinn, was one of the choices of jungler Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson and EXP laner Pandora.
Fredrinn was the 13th most popular hero at M5, being picked 41 times with a 48.78% win rate. While most other teams saw mixed success with the hero, AP.Bren picked Fredrinn nine times throughout the tournament and won eight times.
Fredrinn is an effective hero in the jungle because of his area-of-effect taunt, which draws crowd control skills and effects away from the team’s carries.
On top of this, he’s a very tanky hero that still deals a ton of damage. With infinite sustain and a decent amount of damage, Fredrinn is an ideal jungle pick.
Thamuz
For AP.Bren’s starting EXP laner and M5 Grand Finals MVP David "FlapTzy" Canon, Thamuz the King of the Fire Demons was his hero of choice.
Thamuz wasn’t exactly the most popular hero in the M5 meta, but he has his own strengths, including lane control, area-of-effect damage, and sustain. He was also an instrumental hero for FlapTzy, who helped the team dominate games one and three in the Grand Finals and turn the tides in AP.Bren’s favour.
Faramis
A strong and much-contested mage pick, Faramis is Pheww's pick for a hero skin. Faramis is the fourth most-picked hero in M5, with Pheww using his in seven games, including two games in the Grand Finals.
Faramis is perfect for team-fighting, with both support and magic damage in his arsenal of skills.
Diggie, Odette, Helcurt
AP.Bren's coaches also voiced their hero picks, with Francis "Duckeyyy" Glindro being very vocal about it —and he kept repeating it throughout the post-match conference, mostly in jest: Diggie.
Diggie wasn’t even picked by AP.Bren in M5 — instead, the hero can be perceived as a pain in the side of many. In fact, coach Duckeyyy had been vocal about how much he hated the owl hero saying that he needs to be removed from the game.
As for coach Vrendon "Vrendon Lin" Pesebre, he simply said that he wanted either Odette (who has way too many skins in-game) and Helcurt to get AP.Bren skins, two of the least popular heroes in the M5 meta.
With the many choices the AP. Bren roster picked, which hero would you like an M5 skin for?
