Everything you need to know about Mobile Legends M4 World Championship in Jakarta

A new Mobile Legends world champion will be crowned to kick off the new year in the M4 World Championship, which will be hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia from 1 to 15 January 2023.

The M4 World Championship will host 16 of the best Mobile Legends teams from all across the world battling for the right to claim the Mobile Legends World Championship title as well as the lion's share of the tournament's US$800,000 prize pool.

Teams

The teams competing in the M4 World Championship are comprised of the champions and runners-up of the national and regional Mobile Legends leagues in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Latin America, Brazil, Middle East & North Africa, Turkey, and North America.

Two additional teams from Myanmar and the Mekong region (Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam) also earned places in the tournament through qualifiers.

Format

The M4 World Championship will be split into two stages: the Group Stage and the Knockout Stage.

The Group Stage will take place from 1 to 4 January in the Bali United Studio in Jakarta. In this preliminary stage, the 16 participating teams have been split into four groups of four teams each. They will then compete for placement in the Knockout Stage in a single round-robin with best-of-one matches.

The Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the upper bracket of the Knockout Stage while the third and fourth-placed teams will have to start in the lower bracket.

The groupings for the M4 World Championship Group Stage are as follows:

Group A - Blacklist International, Burn x Team Flash, Falcon Esports, Incendio Supremacy

Group B - Malvinas Gaming, MDH Esports, ONIC Esports, TODAK

Group C - ECHO, Occupy Thrones, RRQ Hoshi, RSG SG

Group D - RRQ Akira, S11 Gaming Argentina, Team HAQ, The Valley

There will be a two-day break following the conclusion of the Group Stage before the Knockout Stage, which will take place from 7 to 15 January in the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan.

The Knockout Stage will follow a double elimination format, where eight teams will start in the upper bracket while the other eight will start in the lower bracket.

The first two rounds of the lower bracket will feature best-of-three matches while all other matches will be a best-of-five except for the Grand Finals, which will be a full best-of-seven series.

Prize pool

The M4 World Championship features a prize pool of US$800,000, with the winnings to be spread as follows:

• Champions: US$300,000

• 2nd place: US$120,000

• 3rd place: US$80,000

• 4th place: US$55,000

• 5th-6th place: US$40,000

• 7th-8th place: US$30,000

• 9th-12th place: US$15,000

• 13th-16th place: US$10,000
