Two Russian teenagers were arrested in Spain and accused of killing their adoptive mother this week.

Silvia López Gayubas, 48, was found dead Wednesday night in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, where her body was discovered inside a car in the garage of her family home, according to local newspaper El Diario Montañés.

The mother was found with a bag over her head and "blows and a stab wound to the neck," per the outlet.

El Español reported that she was discovered around 9 p.m., before Spain's Civil Guard began to search the area for her two missing teenage children, which the outlet noted are Russian. The pair were eventually discovered in a local park after a search ended around 2 a.m., per El Diario Montañés.

The teens — whom the outlet notes were aged 15 and 13 — also reportedly faked a kidnapping, which they allegedly called their grandmother about. The boys' father was reportedly working overnight. "He didn't believe it. He was devastated," a source told El Diario.

As El Correro notes, the Investigative Court No. 5 of Santander agreed to the eldest child's "closed confinement" for six months. He will reportedly be admitted into the Parayas Youth Socio-Educational Center.

Since the youngest child is 13, he was too young to be charged, per El Diario. The outlet reports that both children were adopted from Russia and that they were transferred to the Armed Institute Command in Santander after the alleged crime.

The youngest child entered a child protection center and was waiting to be transferred to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, where he would undergo a psychosocial examination, per El Diario.

A prosecutor will then decide whether to request a "precautionary measure" from a juvenile judge, the outlet also notes.

There were no previous complaints about the family and no reports of previous violence in the family, per the outlet. The Civil Guard of Spain has not found an alleged weapon as of 1:30 p.m. local time Thursday.

Susana Herrán, the mayor of Castro, expressed her "dismay at this tragic news," according to El Diario.
