Mom Unsure If She Should Confess Breastmilk Was in Son's Cereal — Which Was Eaten by Her Father-in-Law
"I don't see the point in giving him cow's milk and freezing pumped milk," she wrote
While different types of milk alternatives have become popular in recent years, this mom has an unconventional approach when it came to her toddler's cereal milk.
The original poster (OP) shared her story on Reddit's AmITheA------ subreddit, asking if she was in the wrong for not telling her in-laws that her toddler son drinks breastmilk in his cereal — especially after one of them enjoyed a bowl without knowing.
Explaining that her son is 15 months old and is still nursing, OP says, "I don't see the point in giving him cows milk and freezing pumped milk so I just put my breastmilk over his cereal or in recipes I'm going to make him."

OP shares that her in-laws are currently staying with her and one morning, she put her son in his high chair, gave him cereal with breastmilk, and left him to eat while her father-in-law watched him in the kitchen.
When she came back down, her father-in-law was finishing her son's cereal. "I laughed a little but went along with my morning," OP says.
Later that morning, OP sat down to breakfast with her in-laws, when her father-in-law shared that the milk in her son's cereal tasted like it was off. She then told him that it was breastmilk instead of cow's milk.
"I swear he looked like he was going to keel over and vomit," OP says. "He was angry and asked why I'd watch him drink it and not tell him. My MIL [mother-in-law] stepped in and agreed, [said] I know he 'finishes' everyone's meals and I should have told him beforehand."
Although OP acknowledges that she should've told her father-in-law it was breastmilk when he was eating the cereal but she thought that he saw her "tip it from the bottle." She concluded her post by asking if she should've just been straightforward and told her father-in-law what type of milk it was.
In the comment section, other Redditors were conflicted. "You're not the AH for feeding your child but you are the AH because you saw FIL eating it and LAUGHED instead of saying something...You thought it was amusing," one commenter said.
"ESH a bit here," another said, with "ESH" being slang for "everyone sucks here." "You should have told him immediately when you saw him eating your sons meal that he had breastmilk in the cereal. But also, what full grown adult just helps them to any and all food they just see laying around, especially a baby's??"
Another plainly said, "Why did you laugh and not say anything to him?? YTA [you're the a------]."
