Morgan Spurlock's exes are mourning him after the documentary filmmaker's death at age 53.

Spurlock died May 23, in New York from complications of cancer, his family announced. In the following days, two of the Super Size Me star's former spouses paid tribute to him on social media.

"Thank you for all the love and support the past few days. We so appreciate it," Sara Bernstein, whom Spurlock married in 2016, wrote on Instagram May 26 alongside a photo of herself with Spurlock and their son Kallen, now 8. They finalized their divorce shortly before Spurlock's death.

"As Kallen said to me 'Morgan was the best daddy ever and we will love and miss him forever and ever,' " Bernstein added, while also sharing a link for donations to the American Cancer Society's New York chapter. "Lots of love to you all," she wrote.

Spurlock's ex-wife Alex Jamieson, with whom he shared son Laken, now 17, also posted a montage of the filmmaker on Instagram showing pictures of the former couple over the years.

The montage also shows Spurlock posing for photos with their son and with celebrities like Stan Lee and Elton John, among others.

"...it’s impossible to put into words what you meant to your family, to your boys, friends, film community… to me. I’m just so glad we were friends in the end," Jamieson wrote. "Morgan was a generous, creative, dedicated human. He LOVED his friends and boys. When he got into something he dove in heart first, with his body and soul."

"Even when we weren’t getting along, we would come together to celebrate and laugh about our amazing boy and how he was growing up to be kind, funny, creative," added Jamieson, who appeared alongside Spurlock in the Oscar-nominated documentary Super Size Me.

"I miss you dearly, friend," she wrote. "I didn’t know it would hurt so much. Rest now."

Spurlock, in an essay shared in 2017, confessed to being "part of the problem" amid the #MeToo movement, revealing he had previously settled a sexual harassment case with his former assistant.

"I have been unfaithful to every wife and girlfriend I have ever had," he also wrote in that essay at the time, per Deadline.

Then, in 2019, Spurlock told Deadline in an interview that he was trying to "make amends" with those he felt he had wronged over the years.
