Most hostilities now occurring on Pokrovsk front in Donbas, Zelenskyy says

The largest number of hostilities is currently taking place on the Pokrovsk front in Donetsk Oblast, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his video address on June 9.

"Pokrovsk axis. Donetsk Oblast," said the head of state.

“Almost every day it is invariably the most difficult, the most difficult [sector] on the frontline. The occupier's pressure is the greatest. The largest number of battles every day: more than 40 attacks yesterday alone, more than 20 today.”

Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to every Ukrainian soldier who destroys the enemy there, every serviceman and commander, is doing everything to hold their positions and help the soldiers in the positions next to them.

"Today, we have already heard a report from army chief [Oleksandr] Syrskyi, and we will hear from the head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov," the president added.

“We are preparing our new steps, Ukraine will definitely defend itself.”

The situation near Pokrovsk

The June 8 report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10 p.m. indicated that the most difficult situation at the front was near Pokrovsk. At that time, the Ukrainian forces had repelled 27 Russian attacks in this area since the beginning of the day.

"20 Russian assault attempts in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Yevhenivka, Sokol, Novopokrovske, Novoselivka Persha, and Yasnobrodivka were repelled," the statement said.

“Seven more enemy attacks continue. The situation is escalating. In particular, the invaders continue to try to break through from Ocheretyne to Yevhenivka and Novooleksandrivka.”

The General Staff reported on June 9 that as of 6:30 p.m., 23 firefights had taken place in the Pokrovsk sector since the beginning of the day.

"Fighting is currently ongoing in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Novoselivka Persha, and Novopokrovske," the General Staff said.

“Occupiers' aviation was launching guided aerial bombs throughout the day at Skuchne, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, and Ivanivka. At present, five attempts of Russian aggressors to improve their positions are still ongoing.”
