A fatal road accident on Woodlands Ave 12 left one motorcyclist dead and four others hospitalised after a car flipped over a road divider.

The Singapore Police Force was alerted to the accident at the junction of Woodlands Ave 12 and Woodlands Ave 1 on Monday evening at about 7:34pm.

A 30-year-old male motorcyclist was found motionless and pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, said the police.

Video footage circulating online showed a black car going over the road divider, striking two motorcycles, one of which was pushed into the path of a lorry. The other motorcycle ran straight into the upturned car.

Nearby pedestrians and drivers stopped to help the injured motorists.

The other motorcyclist, the male care driver and his female passenger were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. A one-year-old infant in the same car was sent to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. All were conveyed conscious to the hospital, said the police.

The lorry driver was not visibly injured and was not sent to hospital, added the police.

The 32-year-old car driver was later arrested for causing death by a negligent act. Police investigations are ongoing.
