MSNBC to bring ‘Democracy 2024’ to Brooklyn Academy of Music
NEW YORK — MSNBC hosts and correspondents will descend on Fort Greene, Brooklyn, later his summer for a first-of-its-kind live event.
The basic cable news network announced Monday that “Democracy 2024” will be held Sept. 7 at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).
Part of the “MSNBC Live” series (featuring interviews, forums and panels on a local and national scale), the upcoming event is described as an “interactive experience, connecting attendees with MSNBC’s most trusted experts and voices – all in one place, all in one day.”
In a letter sent Monday to staffers, the left-leaning network’s president Rashida Jones commented: “In the midst of a critical and unprecedented election year, there’s never been a better time to further deepen that connection with the MSNBC audience to help them understand more of what is happening here in the U.S. and across the globe.”
Attendees will have to shell out at least $119 each to attend the event featuring more than a dozen talking heads.
Native Brooklynite Joy Ann Reid is among the talent assembled to lead deep-dive discussions on voter issues. She will be joined by former White House press secretary Jen Psaki, Chris Hayes, Alex Wagner, Andrea Mitchell and Katy Tur to discuss the 2024 presidential race. Steve Kornacki will offer up analysis on the data tabulated from this summer’s Republican and Democratic national conventions.
Emmy-winner Rachel Maddow will headline the second half of the day, which will feature Lawrence O’Donnell, Ari Melber, Stephanie Ruhle, Michael Steele, Alicia Menendez and Vice President Kamala Harris’s former senior adviser Symone Sanders Townsend.
“Democracy 2024” will also include premiere screenings of a yet-to-be-announced MSNBC film, and there will be an exclusive dinner, titled MSNBC’s This is Who We Are Dinner and Reception, where over 200 seated guests will hear the MSNBC hosts offer up their views on what the announcement describe as “this critical moment in democracy.”
