Dota 2 developer Valve Software has announced the game's newest hero will be Muerta, who will be available to play some time in early 2023.

Valve revealed Muerta before the grand finals of The International 11 (TI11), this year's iteration of Dota 2's annual world championship tournament. Aside from her name, not much else about Muerta was revealed in the short teaser.

From what was shown in the teaser, Muerta wields both a gun and ghostly powers against her enemies. Muerta notably means "Death" in Spanish. Her design also greatly resembles traditional costumes worn by the people of Mexico during the "Día de los Muertos", or Day of the Dead.

Muerta will be the 124th hero to join Dota 2's expansive roster of unique playable characters. Primal Beast, the game's 123rd hero, was released in the 7.31 update back in February.

It's an exciting time to be a Dota 2 fan. Not only is it TI season once again, Valve has also given players a free Arcana, Battle Pass, and a month of Dota Plus in celebration of the tournament.
