N. Korean leader calls COVID outbreak 'great turmoil'
STORY: During the meeting, in which the country's recent coronavirus outbreak was discussed, Kim said that the spread of COVID-19 had thrust his country into "great turmoil" and called for an all-out battle to overcome it, according to state media.
The Workers' Party meeting also heard reports of about 280,810 people being treated since a fever of unidentified origins was reported starting in late April, according to North Korea's official news agency KCNA.
State media did not say whether the new deaths reported were due to COVID. KCNA had separately reported on Friday (May 13) that one death had been confirmed to be due to the Omicron variant.
