SINGAPORE — Singaporeans can celebrate this year's National Day Parade (NDP) digitally - with the newly-launched free NDP Digital Play Pack App by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).

The app uses augmented-reality (AR) technology to provide a digital experience that replicates this year's NDP parade.

The app is part of the #UniteAsOneSG campaign, which aims to strengthen the sense of belonging and identity among Singaporeans by engaging them in both activities related to Singapore and NDP 2023.

"We hope all Singaporeans can create new National Day memories, deepen interactions during the NDP, and take a stroll down memory lane through Singapore’s cherished and historic landmarks," said Dr Ong Chen Hui, IMDA's assistant chief executive of the business and technology group.

What features do the app offer?

The "Creating as One" feature allows users to take photos with NDP-themed stickers and filters.

Users can also dress up virtually in Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF), and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) uniforms, as well as take selfies with the National Day mascot, August the Merlion.

In the "Growing Up as One" feature, users can learn more about Singapore's history by virtually visiting iconic sites like the Padang and National Library Building.

A third feature, "NDP as One", offers exclusive content for the National Day Parade, including 360-degree videos and AR fireworks, bringing the NDP parade experience to the comfort of their homes.

It also showcases vehicles from the NDP Total Defence Parade, such as the SCDF's 6th Generation Light Fire Attack Vehicle and the Republic of Singapore Navy's Unmanned Surface Vessel.

The NDP Digital Play Pack App is available for download on both iOS and Android devices.

Get creative and win big with the app

Users can also redesign Singapore using the app's Singapore-themed filters and stickers under Creating as One, for a chance to win free admission tickets to Gardens by the Bay and a stay for two at participating hotels like Ascott Orchard Singapore and lyf Funan Singapore.

To participate, users should download IMDA's Digital Play Pack App, create their designs, and post them on social media with the hashtag #UniteAsOneSG, tagging @ndpeeps, @gardensbythebay, @discoverasrsingapore, and @imdasg. The campaign period is from 21 July to 6 August.
