The knife discovered at the school is found to be a commercial kitchen knife, creating an element of doubt as to whether it was brought in by the gang. Lana from the Department leaves, undecided on what the consequences of this will be without knowing the full story. Jane is frustrated Terese couldn't be more help with Lana.
On a mission to solve where the knife came from, Andrew discovers it went missing from Harold's during the lunch rush and interrogates JJ, Dex and Nell, who were on the scene.
Despite JJ's covering, his guilt gets the better of him and he later confesses to stealing the knife, copping an official warning from Andrew and suspension from school.
When Dex questions what will happen to Slade for assaulting JJ, Andrew admits it will be difficult to charge him given there were no other witnesses, leaving JJ's fear of Slade unabated.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is making the most of being in charge at the hotel and shuts Krista down when she questions a large order for her signature scent. Careful to control the narrative, Chelsea brings up her perfume order with Paul, who is surprised but doesn't have the heart to argue.
When Chelsea witnesses Paul and Terese sharing a moment of solidarity at Josh's plaque, she's frustrated and proceeds to interrupt their heartfelt catch-up.
As Krista, Remi, Terese and Wendy air their grievances about Chelsea, Leo and Aaron remain in the anti-Paul camp, thinking he deserves to be taken to the cleaners by her. But Terese decides to confront Chelsea for taking advantage of Paul in his grieving state.
A stand-off ensues when Chelsea questions why Terese cares so much – she's no longer married to Paul nor part of the hotel.
Elsewhere, Aaron arrives home after being AWOL but is greeted with irritation from Nicolette, who remains stubborn in her feelings even after Aaron offers an apology. When Aaron brings up the time she took off to Canberra while pregnant, Nicolette starts to soften, admitting that they can all do selfish things to cope. Aaron insists he wants to make things up to her.
