Neighbours has officially confirmed the return of David Tanaka.

David hasn't featured in the soap since the new season launched in September, but he'd been widely-tipped to make a comeback further on down the line.

After weeks of speculation, Neighbours bosses have now name-checked David in a newly-released set of teaser spoilers.

The official press billing for Thursday, November 23 mentions David being caught "between a rock and hard place".

Although David is mentioned in spoilers for the first time on November 23, he's expected to make his comeback a few episodes prior to this, with Takaya Honda reprising the role.

Although Aaron isn't mentioned in these short press billings, he's also expected to be back as Matt Wilson – who plays him – was spotted on set in some behind-the-scenes footage a few weeks ago.

Nicolette Stone has also been rumoured to return, with a new actress taking over the part after Charlotte Chimes decided not to reprise the role.

The absence of David, Aaron and Nicolette was addressed in the season premiere in September.

In a conversation with her son Byron Stone, Jane Harris commented: "When Nicolette and Isla moved away, and then Aaron and David too, it was such a loss. But then having you back, and seeing you get so serious about a career… I'm just so glad that you've found a new passion."

Paul Robinson shed more light on the situation in the following episode when he spoke to David's brother Leo about jilting Terese Willis at the altar.

He said: "Son, I left her standing at the altar, remember? So yes, I am grateful that we've managed to salvage a friendship.

"I will always regret the way that I behaved this time last year. And I'm sad that it cost me the support of Aaron and David as well. But I'm not cut out for marriage and it's good to finally be honest about that."

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
