Neighbours star Emerald Chan gets confused over dramatic siege scenes

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours star Emerald Chan was left confused about the identity of the siege hostage victim, in a new behind-the-scenes video.

In scenes that aired on the Australian soap this week, Melanie Pearson was held hostage in the Kennedy’s house by villain Eden Shaw, who had escaped police custody.

Mel was tied to a chair while Eden ransacked the house looking for money, while the residents of Ramsay Street waited hopelessly outside for the critical response team.

The siege was eventually resolved, with Eden being brought to justice. However, it appears that not all of the cast knew who the hostage victim actually was…

In a video posted by the soap on Instagram, viewers were able to go behind the camera and take a look at what it was like for the actors to film those dramatic scenes.

The post was captioned: "It may have been high drama on the show this week, but the siege was a HOOT behind the scenes!"

One clip showed Lucinda Armstrong Hall, who plays Holly Hoyland, and Chan, who plays Sadie Rodwell, talking to the camera about the storyline, with Armstrong Hall saying: "Everyone’s pretty worried for Mel."

In a hilarious twist, Chan questioned, "Mel?", before revealing that she thought Toadie Rebecchi’s daughter Nell was being held hostage instead.

This revelation left co-star Armstrong Hall in hysterics, alongside Karl Kennedy actor Alan Fletcher, who said: "That’s gold. Somebody get this woman a script."

Chan commented on the social media post, admitting: "it gets confusing sometimes".

The siege was also a fun filming experience for Rebekah Elmaloglou, who plays Terese Willis in the show.

She explained in the video: "Yeah we’ve got a siege, but it’s a nice day, and I’ve got no lines. And I’ve managed to change my shoes from boots to runners, so I’m kind of quite content. So no one’s going to hear a peep from me all afternoon."

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
