Neighbours' Takaya Honda shares reunion with former co-star

Neighbours star Takaya Honda has enjoyed a reunion with his former co-star Ben Hall, as he shared his pride for his ex-colleague.

Honda, who played doctor David Tanaka in the Australian soap, has shared a photo of himself with his old co-star Hall, who played Ned Willis, on Instagram, after he went to see Hall perform in his new stage musical, Elvis: A Musical Revolution.

Sharing a photo of the pair with their arms around each other, Honda wrote, "Great catching up with @benhall23 and watching his incredible performance in @elvisamusicalrevolutionau at @athenaeumtheatremelb.

"Well worth checking out if you are a fan of Elvis, the performances are superb."

The actor's followers were delighted to see the pair back together again, with one commenting, "What a beautiful photo", and another writing, "Nice that you still see each other".

Hall stars in the new musical as Sam Phillips, the man who first recorded Elvis Presley at Sun Records. The show is now playing in Melbourne, Australia, and is due to tour in 2024.

Neither David or Ned has featured in Neighbours since the soap returned to our screens this year, but it was confirmed last week that David will soon be making a return to Erinsborough.

It has been revealed that David will be back on Ramsay Street in November, with an official press billing stating that David will be caught "between a rock and hard place".

There has been no word on a return for Ned, who departed Erinsborough following the end of his relationship with Amy Greenwood.

There are a number of 2022 regulars who have not returned to the soap since it was revived by Amazon Freevee, including Nicolette Stone, Glen Donnelly and Levi Canning.

Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison has told Digital Spy and other media that there could still be further returns to come, as he explained how the team decided which characters to bring back.

"Just because a character is not back in episode one, it doesn't mean they may not return in the future," he teased. "Certainly, there's a lot of love from the actors who have been on the show."

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
