Neil Morrissey regrets his affair with Amanda Holden.

The 'Men Behaving Badly' actor had a five- week fling with TV star Amanda in 2000, which led to the breakdown of her marriage to 'Family Fortunes' star Les Dennis.

And, Neil, 61, admitted he regrets being the cause of their split.

Speaking on the 'Restless Natives' podcast with 'Line of Duty's Martin Compston, he said: "A gentleman's socks should always match his shoes. Don't [sleep with] a game-show host's wife."

Neil also spoke about his fling with Amanda, 52, during a 2014 appearance on Piers Morgan's 'Life Stories'.

He said: "No, I didn't [apologise to Les]. I'm not positive over what there is apologise about. I don't know what the whole situation was, to be perfectly fair to everybody.

"I feel sorry for how the situation was dealt with and I feel sorry for how emotional Les seemed to become. It was very difficult for him and for that I'm sorry."

Amanda was just 22 when she and Les, then 40, met and fell in love while starring in a production of 'The Sound Of Music'.

According to The Mirror, she said at the time of the split: "'I terribly want children but I didn't want to have them with Les.

"That's a horribly brutal thing to say, but when you do, you know you have to move on.

"I found the fall from grace incredibly hard to deal with. I can't bear not to be liked.

"Then I had an affair and overnight turned into this awful person. There are no hard feelings with Les. I wish him the best, but we've both moved on. I don't believe women have affairs for no reason. Women don't seek sex – we seek love and affirmation."
