Netizens had thoughts about Joanne Peh's revealing outfit and she responds with humour
The actress's witty retort shuts down criticism of her stylish attire at Louis Vuitton Christmas tree unveiling
To quote a really famous musician who is on her global tour right now, haters gonna hate. But, local actress Joanne Peh is addressing the brickbats for her recent daring fashion choice with class and humour.
The 40-year-old attended the unveiling of Louis Vuitton’s 21-m tall Christmas tree outside ION Orchard on 15 November and wore a draped pinstripe leg jumpsuit in a bold move that ignited a social media banter.
While the name might sound simple, the outfit as anything but as it has what seems to be a plunging neckline.
When Peh posted pictures of her at the event on Instagram, an overwhelming majority of netizens praised her look and found her beautiful.
Embracing style critics with wit and grace
However some critics surfaced with one thought she was “too skinny”, while another remarked that she must have lots of self-confidence to wear the outfit and assumed that Peh used “lots of fashion tape”.
For the uninitiated, fashion tape is a clear tape that’s specifically designed to keep clothing in place to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.
In response to the latter, an unfazed Peh commented cheekily, “Who needs tape when I have posture?”
The comment sparked a small discussion which saw two other netizens coming to Peh’s defence and one of the pointed out that there is actually fabric on the front where the neckline is, but it’s just “transparent”.
Louis Vuitton's $8,350 jumpsuit
Well, they’re not entirely wrong as the product details on the LV website states that there is “a sensual sheer insert on the chest to create a daring plunging V-neck effect”.
The jumpsuit retails at $8,350 but is currently unavailable on the website.
