Neve Campbell Shares Advice for Her Kids If They Become Actors: It's 'Challenging but Magical' (Exclusive)

Neve CampbellNeve Campbell will always support her kids — no matter what profession they decide to pursue later in life.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE at Reefer Madness: The Musical in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 30, the actress, 50, opened up about advice she has for her two sons, should they choose to follow in her acting footsteps.
"They have to love it, because it's very challenging," said Campbell, who shares children Caspian and Raynor with partner JJ Feild.
"Unless you really feel that you have to do it, that your soul cannot live without the arts, without creativity, without storytelling, then find something else," she continued.
Added the Scream star: "But if you have to do it, then it is magical. Challenging, but magical."

Last year, Campbell premiered her documentary Swan Song, which takes audiences inside the National Ballet of Canada’s 2022 production of Swan Lake.
While speaking with PEOPLE about the project, the mother of two revealed that her son Raynor has an interest in dance after she took him to see a production of The Nutcracker.
"I've taken Raynor, and Raynor loves dance, and has taken some ballet classes already. [He] absolutely loves it," she said.

Campbell, who trained at Canada's prestigious National Ballet School from age 9 to 14, also said that her other son was initially interested in the art form as well, though it was something he eventually chose not to pursue.
"Caspian, earlier on, had asked about ballet, as well, not even knowing that I had been a ballet dancer," she said. "We did try, just for a minute, when we were in New York City, but it just took one bad teacher. It was like one teacher who was grumpy that day."
"I used to think I would never allow my kids to dance. Inevitably, if someone has a passion for something and they are driven to do it, and they have to do it, you can't stop them," added Campbell.

"I'm here to support my brother [Christian Campbell] and my sister-in-law [America Olivo], who are producing the new version of Reefer Madness, along with Kristen Bell and Alan Cumming, and a brilliant new cast," she said.
"This is a project that I was involved in 25 years ago. My brother was the lead. I was so proud of him. My mom, we call the Reefer Mama. I mean, she must have seen the show 60 times, and it's just a really fun show," added Campbell.
"It's something that Christian and America have been wanting to [do], so finally, here we are," continued the star.
