NewJeans to be 1st K-pop girl group to perform on ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’

ABC and Dick Clark Productions announced Wednesday that K-pop group NewJeans will be performing two of their songs on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” on Dec. 31.
About their appearance: The five-member group — consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein — is set to perform “Super Shy” and “ETA” live from South Korea. They are reportedly the first K-pop girl group to perform at the annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

Joining NewJeans in as performers are American singer Post Malone and Puerto Rican rapper Ivy Queen. Ivy Queen will perform from Puerto Rico.

BTS, J-Hope and TXT, who are all NewJeans' Big Hit Music labelmates, were previously invited to perform at the annual event. BTS appeared for 2018, while member J-Hope and TXT appeared for this year.
Hosting the celebration: Ryan Seacrest will be joined by British singer Rita Ora in hosting the live broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in Times Square in New York, which starts at 8 p.m. EST, while “The Real” co-host Jeannie Mai will be hosting the event from Los Angeles, according to ABC.
Puerto Rican actor Dayanara Torres, who spent some time in the Philippines after the 1994 Miss Universe Pageant, is also set to host the New Year’s Eve celebration in Puerto Rico.
