Roger Goodell is officially team Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

The NFL commissioner sat down CBS Mornings co-host Nathaniel Burleson for an interview that aired Wednesday, where he was asked about his feelings about the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, dating the global superstar, 33.

"They’re happy, they seem to be enjoying their relationship. That’s great, in and of itself," said Goodell, 64, of the headline-making couple. "But it has connected more fans of Taylor’s and more fans of the NFL in some ways. Sort of, to see that they have a connection, now [fans] have a connection to our game and to Taylor."

"She’s an unbelievable artist, obviously Travis is an unbelievable player," he noted, "I think it’s great for the league to have that kind of attention. So, we welcome it.”

The NFL initially got a bit of heat after Swift started attending Kansas City Chiefs games to support Kelce — with the league posting about the "Anti-Hero" singer on their social media pages, including changing their Instagram bio to "The @Chiefs are now 2-0 with @TaylorSwift13 in attendance" and briefly putting photos of Swift as their TikTok header.

Defending the Swift acknowledgements to some irked fans, the NFL stated that the social media changes are a normal part of their strategy.

"We frequently change our bios and profile imagery based on what’s happening in and around our games, as well as culturally," the organization told PEOPLE in a statement. "The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news has been a pop cultural moment we’ve leaned into in real time, as it’s an intersection of sport and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport."

"The vast majority of our content has remained focused on the game, our players and variety of other initiatives, including our Toy Story Funday Football alt-cast, the international games and more," the statement concluded.

Though Kelce initially said in October that the NFL may have been a bit "overdoing it a bit," he's admitted that they are just having fun with it. The athlete also publicly shared that overall, he is "not running away" from the added spotlight.

“Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them .... I’ve never dealt with it,” Kelce said in a cover interview with WSJ Magazine, released on Monday. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it .... The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life.”

Elsewhere in Goodell's interview with Burleson, the host joked that "there will be a specific demographic of fans that will come after me" if he didn't ask Goodell the Swift-related question, referring to the "Swifties," her die-hard fan base.

"I say what's good for the goose his good for the gander," Burleson said of the NFL gaining new fans, and Swift gaining new listeners thanks to the pair-up.

"Absolutely!" Goodell agreed.
