Niang back with SuperSport

Niang back with SuperSport

SuperSport United returnee Mame Niang says he has "unfinished business" with the club after re-signing on a three-year deal on Tuesday. The Senegalese marksman was deemed surplus to requirements by Matsatsantsa at the start of the 2012/13 season and was offloaded to University of Pretoria, where he scored 10 goals. The 29-year-old has now returned to United after penning terms this week, and spoke to Football411 about his desire to rewrite his career with the Tshwane giants. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Niang said: "I love challenges and I feel I have things that I didn't finish at SuperSport United so I have unfinished business at the club." Niang further believes the players Matsatsantsa have signed, such as Thuso Phala, Bennett Chenene, Innocent Mkhabela and David Mathebula, mean the Pretoria outfit are capable of challenging for league honours next term, while also admitting the lure of advancing his salary played its role in his decision making. "I looked at the players that they have signed and it shows this club has ambitions," he added. "I want to be part of that and challenge for everything on offer next season so I feel, based on that, this is a club that can help me as a player. "Lastly, my decision is also based on the financial side of things. I mean, I'm not getting any younger and I need to look after my future. I spoke to my agent and my family about this and we all agreed that SuperSport is a right club for me." Niang, who was the PSL's top scorer in 2005/06 with 14 goals while playing for Moroka Swallows, added he was targeting the top marksman's position in the new campaign after only finishing three goals behind eventual Golden Boot winner Katlego Mashego. "I want to show the whole of South Africa that I've still got it in me to score the goals. I just hope I don't get any injuries and as long as I'm fit, I'm going to score the goals," he concluded.
