Nicholas Galitzine 'Cannot Wait' to Play He-Man in New Movie: 'It Has Been a Dream for So Long'

Nicholas Galitzine has the power!

The Red, White & Royal Blue actor expressed his excitement to step into his newly-announced role as He-Man in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Masters of the Universe.

"By the Power of Greyskull, I HAVE THE POWER," Galitzine wrote on Instagram. "I’m so beyond proud to announce that I will be playing Adam, Prince of Eternia in ‘Masters of the Universe’. It has been a dream for so long to play someone of his heart, humour and heroism, I cannot wait to get started."

The film is based on the popular Mattel action figure line that inspired the 1980s animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The franchise has since expanded to include the spin-off series She-Ra: Princess of Power and the live-action 1987 film Masters of the Universe, among other projects.

The new movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films will be directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler from an initial draft by David Callaham, and Aaron and Adam Nee, according to a press release.

Knight and Butler previously collaborated on the animated movies Paranorman and Kubo and the Two Strings. The duo also have the stop-motion movie Wildwood set to release in 2025.

As of now, plot details have not been disclosed. However, an earlier script is said to have followed "an orphan named Adam" who "discovers he is a prince destined to be the savior of a faraway land and must quickly learn of his power and the importance of saving his true home from an evil force.”

Over the past few years, several actors have been linked to the role including Kyle Allen and Noah Centineo. The West Side Story actor's casting was announced by the studio in 2022, and Centineo dropped the news on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2019.

"I’m very excited, it’s quite an opportunity,” Centineo said at the time.

With this casting announcement, it’s clear that Galitzine has found a home at Amazon MGM Studios with the success of his recent projects The Idea of You and Red, White and Royal Blue. He also starred in the 2021 Amazon Prime adaptation of Cinderella.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the actor will be returning to reprise his role in the sequel to the beloved LGBTQ rom-com Red, White and Royal Blue.
