Nicole Kidman has a vision for a live performance of her popular AMC Theatres advertisement.

As Kidman, 56, graced the cover of Elle’s April 2024 Impact issue, the actress discussed the ever-growing popularity of her 2021 commercial for the movie theater chain. The spot plays before every movie shown at AMC Theatres and has become a popular subject for drag performers to spoof during shows, as the outlet noted.

“My dream will be to be onstage doing it with a drag queen,” Kidman told the outlet of drag performers paying tribute to the famous "we make movies better" ad. “I’ve got to be able to do that at some point.”

Kidman dished on details of the making of the 2021 advertisement while speaking with Elle, recalling that she filmed the spot during a weekend while she made her movie Being the Ricardos. She told the outlet that she felt compelled to help bring moviegoers back to theaters after the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the movie industry.

“It was just the desire to keep cinemas alive,” she said. “I’ve had the best experiences in cinema. I’d pretend I was going to school; I’d forge a note, and I’d go and sit in a movie theater. That’s a safe haven for me, so the idea of those not existing — that’s just not part of the equation in my lifetime.”

“If that’s what it takes, I’ll do whatever it takes,” the actress added of the advertisement's popularity, which has been poked fun at in the two-plus years since it debuted. “We have to have some more ideas for the next one.”

AMC Theatres released a newly-altered version of the original 2021 advertisement on March 1. Though the spot does not contain any new footage featuring Kidman, it does show her watching movies that have been released since the original, highlighting moments from the 2022 films Elvis and Avatar: The Way of Water. The cinema chain plans to add two additional versions of the advertisement to its theaters in the coming months, as multiple outlets reported in February.

The advertisement's popularity has surpassed the expectations of both Kidman and her husband Keith Urban, who said on Criss Angel’s Talking Junkies podcast back in November of Kidman, "Never in a million years [was she] expecting that to be this cultural thing."

Back in August 2022, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron confirmed that Kidman had signed on to remain the chain's spokesperson for at least one more year.
