Niecy Nash-Betts gave a special shout-out to herself at the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

In the category of outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie, the 2023 nominees also included Welcome to Chippendales actresses Annaleigh Ashford and Juliette Lewis, Beef's Maria Bello, Fleishman Is in Trouble's Claire Danes, Camila Morrone of Daisy Jones & The Six and Tiny Beautiful Things' Merritt Weaver. But the Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story actress came out on top and began her speech by saying: “I’m a winner, baby!”

“Thank you to the most high for this divine moment,” she shared. “Thank you Ryan Murphy for seeing me Evan Peters, I love you. Netflix, every single person who voted for me, thank you. And my better half who picked me up when I was gutted from this work. Thank you. And you know who I want to thank? I want to thank me.”

“For believing in me and doing what they said I could not,” she continued. “And I want to say to myself in front of all you beautiful people, “Go on girl with your bad self. You did that!”

She concluded her speech with a message to Black and brown women, saying, “Finally, I accept this award on behalf of every Black and brown woman who has gone unheard yet over-policed. Like Glenda Cleveland, like Sandra Bland, like Breonna Taylor. As an artist, my job is to speak truth to power, and baby I’mma do it till the day I die. Mama, I won!”

Nash-Betts, 53, picked up her fifth Emmy nomination for playing Glenda Cleveland in the Netflix crime adaptation, after a list of other nominations in 2023. She previously took home the Critics Choice Award for the role, saying, “Thank you, Jessica. Thank you, Netflix. Baby, you picked me up when I was gutted from this work. Ryan Murphy, Evan Peters. And I share this award with Glenda Cleveland. On this night, we are fully seen."

Cleveland was the real-life neighbor of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, and played a major role in identifying the community tragedy.

Dahmer received some criticism for highlighting the real-life players in the horrific story but still broke Netflix’s viewing records, surpassing 1 billion viewing hours on the streaming service in just 60 days.

Though she’s become well known for the screen, Ashford is also a stage star who just wrapped her run as Mrs. Lovett in the Broadway production of Sweeney Todd.

Bello, 56, was nominated for her first Emmy for the role of Jordan Forester in Netflix’s hit drama Beef.

“It’s been a really funny, surprising time,” she told Gold Derby of her nod. Her return to the screen came after a Hollywood pause when she “reevaluated” her place in the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.

“I only wanted to work with people that I like, and I trust, and it’s great writing and a great group of people. Boom,” she added. “I read a lot of things, but as soon as I read [Lee Sun Jin’s] writing — such a genius — I fell in love with it.”

Claire Danes in Fleishman Is in Trouble.

With 10 prior Emmy nominations and three wins, Danes is no stranger to the TV's biggest night. In Fleishman Is in Trouble, the 2022 Hulu adaptation of the 2019 book of the same name, Danes played Rachel Fleishman, who upended her family by seemingly vanishing on an ordinary day.

“It is stunning when you do arrive at a deeper understanding of who and why she is the way she is,” Danes, 44, told The Hollywood Reporter about he character. “It’s very effective. You suddenly feel complicit in some kind of overwhelming bias system of thinking about women in a particular way, and it’s really jarring.”

Morrone’s first Emmy nomination was for the role of band Camila Alvarez in Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & The Six.

The former model, 26, previously told Daisy Jones star (and fellow 2023 nominee) Riley Keough about her decision to pursue acting in a chat for Interview Magazine. “I’ve always been a bit of a ham, and I grew up surrounded by industry people, so I always knew that it was something I’d end up doing. But I was also a bit in denial,” she explained. “I was in denial even with myself and I was pretending like I wasn’t going to do it. Meanwhile, I knew it was all I ever wanted to do. But being born in L.A., you’re so exposed to the industry at a young age that there is a part of you that rebels against it before you inevitably dive into it.”
