“The Night Agent” Is Back on the Job as 1 of Netflix's Most-Streamed Shows Begins Production on Season 2
'The Night Agent' season 1 became Netflix’s sixth most-watched series ever, racking up 98.2 million views
It’s time to call “action” on The Night Agent season 2!
Netflix's hit thriller series has suited up and started filming its sophomore outing. The streamer released a new photo from set on Monday featuring star Gabriel Basso holding a clapperboard and sporting a rugged beard.
The scene appears to be filming at night on a street corner. Basso, 29, is standing under the glow of a red neon light. He’s wearing a button down while holding the board for episode 201.
Netflix confirms filming for the new season will step away from Washington, D.C., in and around which much of season 1 was based. This time, Basso's Peter Sutherland will find himself in locations as far-flung as New York City and Thailand

Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, Season 1 of The Night Agent aired its first 10 episodes in 2023, which followed Basso's FBI agent as he became embroiled in a political conspiracy. While season 1 wrapped up its presidential storyline in a nice bow (complete with arrests and a final reveal of the truth behind a terrorist attack), a new plot is already pointing to way more drama.
In the final scene of season 1, character Peter was handed a mission statement that read “Night Action: Mission Brief,” meaning he made his way into the elite group of night agents he’d been keen to join.
Showrunner Shawn Ryan teased what that moment means to Netflix’s Tudum. “I love the symbolism in that,” Ryan said. “That he’s the guy who, from the beginning, has been trying to do more, has been trying to be of service, has been trying to be noticed for his good qualities since his father was accused of bad qualities and people were suspicious about him.”

Ryan explained why the drama is poised to ratchet up even more in season 2: “One of the reasons we like Peter so much is he's a rule follower who has such a strict moral code that he lives by. We admire the choices he makes. [As a night agent] those choices will become difficult, the stakes will become even higher and the danger he's in will grow even bigger.”
The Night Agent season 1 became Netflix’s sixth most-watched series ever with in 98.2 million views.
Luciane Buchanan, who plays Rose, is confirmed to be returning for season 2 alongside Basso, ensuring plenty more will-they-won’t-they tension to come. New cast members have already been announced, including Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Brittany Snow and Teddy Sears.
